Flüux :/ Terminal
Skoltz_Kolgen
At the base, Flüux :/ Terminal was initially conceived as an audio/visual performance for 2 hybrid laptops and 2 video screens. After having presented Flüux :/ Terminal in Montréal, in Mexico and in Italy, the Skoltz_Kolgen duo, moved by the strong reaction of the public, decided to adapt this performance for the CD format.

About
Over the last 8 years, the Montréal duo of Skoltz_Kolgen has initiated a creative process that in essence has jumped headfirst into the realm of audio-visual production, resulting in multiple variations on different mediums. The process has already given birth to a feature film (Silent Room), live performances, audio and visual creations, and now a second album…
Flüux :/ Terminal is the second full length CD by Montréal-based artists released by the Mutek_rec label. At the base, Flüux :/ Terminal was initially conceived as an audio/visual performance for 2 hybrid laptops and 2 video screens, After having presented Flüux :/ Terminal in Montréal, in Mexico and in Italy, the Skoltz_Kolgen duo, moved by the strong reaction of the public, decided to adapt this performance for the CD format.
The Flüux :/ Terminal CD is not just a remixing of the audio performance track. In a new, dynamic approach that is more conducive to CD media, Skoltz_Kolgen have embarked on an eclectic configuration of audio and rhythmic micro fragments. The result is a nuanced sonic object that contrasts with the restive, live ambiance of the Flüux :/ Terminal performance.
The audacious work by the Montréal tandem is recognized abroad for its intensity and its thought provoking nature:
“… This approach undertakes a course of action that recalls as a precursor the Austrian duo Granular Synthesis. However, [with Skoltz_Kolgen] the interaction between sound and image is enriched.” — Andrea Lissoni, Netmage_Italy
“A cascade of sonic and visual stimulations, first class mastery in the manipulation of frequencies and of imagery style. Words cannot describe what I experienced. I’ve never seen anything like it.” — Radio Universidad, Guadalajara, Mexico (Dec. 2003)
“… the most inventive soundtrack, Silent Room, a feature film by a duo from Montréal …” — Annick Rivoire, Libération, Wednesday March 10/2004_Paris
“Silent Room…from Canadian tandem SKOLTZ_KOLGEN…an impressionable, different, and original concept. A demanding, but fascinating, experience.” — Revue Repérages, March 2004_Paris
