“When I started uploading the collection, in 2009, I was an undergraduate student of a composition class at UNESP (Universidade Estadual Paulista: State University of São Paulo) at the university’s studio for electroacoustic music, PANaroma. Our professor made this collection, I believe, from his particular library, picking up some works that he found important. So there was this pile of CDs for us to hear as a kind of assignment.” —Caio Barros, São Paulo (Brazil)

“This is from a 62-CD set called Electroacoustic Music History that was floating around as a torrent, reputedly curated by a Brazilian student. […] it’s admirable and contains a ton of great stuff.” —UbuWeb, www.ubu.com/sound/electronic.html

Why is this virtual 62-CD-R set catalogued here? Because we wish to somewhat set the record “straighter” with more accurate spelling of the works’ titles and, in some cases, the creators’ names. To also connect the dots by trying to match these works with (once and often still) available recordings.

While this collection is still illicitly available online (the 62-CD-R worth of it on a file hosting site; UbuWeb is serving a reduced selection) we think that it is essential to support the music, its composers and some record labels along the way by helping listeners to get access to these important works the “right” way. The listing here (via the “Track Detail” tab) is our contribution.
