After an early love-affair with punk rock, Steve developed an interest in more experimental forms of organizing sound into improvised and composed music, radio, and installation projects. This expanded notion of working with sonic material eventually lead to founding a sound art festival in Winnipeg, Send + Receive: A Festival of Sound, which he directed for 8 years. Steve currently lives in Montréal and works as the Sound Coordinator at Hexagram Institute for Research/Creation in Media Arts and Technologies and is a candidate in the MFA — Studio Arts program, both based at Concordia University. Current projects include soundFIELD with Douglas Moffat at the International Garden Festival, Métis, Québec, A Square Meter of London at the Architectural Association, London, UK with AKVK, and a forthcoming full-length release on ORAL.
