One of Canada’s most adventuresome vocalists, DB Boyko has explored the boundaries of vocal music as a performer and a creative collaborator in contemporary music, theatre and dance. Her most recent project, Hubbub, with Christine Duncan and Andreas Kahre is a futuristic foray into the communion of voice, Theremin, glass harmonica and electric cello.
For 24 years she championed experimental practice in her role as Director/Curator of Western Front New Music (Vancouver) realizing music productions, residencies and recordings such as Evan Parker — Vaincu.Va! and past · piano · present: Anthony Davis, Al Neil, Paul Plimley and John Kameel Farah. Community projects figure prominently in her musical pursuits, including the leadership of the Voice Over mind Choir generating spontaneous choral works through improvisation.
