And the Winners of the 8th Destellos Competition Are…

The Foundation Destellos announced today the results of the 8th edition of its electroacoustic composition competition. The first prize of both categories were not awarded. Thus, in the acousmatic category, two ex æquo second prizes were awarded to works by Gilles Gobeil and Andrew Babcock, and, in the mixed category, the second prize was awarded to Demian Rudel Rey. Mentions were also attributed to David Hindmarch, Daniel Blinkhorn, Louise Rossiter, Nikos Stavropoulos, and Keita Matsumiya.

October 26 – November 8, 2013: Gobeil, Binet-Audet to Tour Germany

Works for ondes Martenot by Gilles Gobeil and performed by Suzanne Binet-Audet will be presented at five concerts during a tour of Germany from October 26 to November 8, 2013. Acousmatic works will complement the programs. The tour will stop at SinusTon festival on October 26 in Magdeburg, at the ZKM on October 31 in Karlsruhe, at Tage neuer Musik festival on November 3 in Weimar, in the concert series Elektroakustische Musik Hören (EM Hören) on November 7 in Berlin, and at Now! festival on November 8 in Essen.

November 21 – December 2, 2012: trans_canada reloaded at Imatronic Extended

Both trans_canada reloaded concerts on November 29, 2012 are part of the Sounds: GRM Akusmonium and Sound Dome series of the Imatronic Extended festival at the ZKM in Karlsruhe (Germany). These two concerts present works by Robert Normandeau (including the premiere of the final version of La part des anges), Francis Dhomont, Gilles Gobeil, Louis Dufort, and Barry Truax. The Imatronic Extended festival will take place from November 21 to December 2, is made fo the several series — Piano+, Neuroaesthetics, Sounds: GRM Akusmonium and Sound Dome, TBA21 Sound Space: Spatial Music — and includes the Giga-Hertz-Prize 2012 ceremony.
