June 10 – 14, 2009: Gobeil at next_generation 3.0, Germany
Gilles Gobeil will participate at the next_generation 3.0 festival which will be held from June 10 — 14, 2009 at ZKM in Karlsruhe (Germany). This festival presents works of more than 20 studios of electroacoustic music situated mainly in Germany. Gobeil, who is in a 2-month residency at ZKM, will represent the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal by presenting a concert on June 14 at the ZKM_Kubus. On the programme: his work Les lointains noirs et rouges as well as works by ex-students of the Conservatoire Pierre-Marc Beaudoin, Jean-François Blouin and Olivier Girouard.

Works by Lillios, Gobeil, Adkins… Are Winners in Bourges
The winners of the 36th Bourges International Competition of Electroacoustic Music and Electronic Arts (France) have been announced. In the Electroacoustic Music Part — Section II Trivium / Quadrivium Elainie Lillios got a prize for her work Veiled Resonance. In the same section Gilles Gobeil’s work Castalie and De deux points de vue by Todor Todoroff were awarded a mention. In the Electronic Arts Part Mathew Adkins was awarded a mention for his work Five Panels.

August 2 – 15, 2009: 4th Sound Art Workshop Directed by Daoust in Orford
The Orford Arts Centre (Québec) announces its 4th Sound Art Workshop as part of the International Music Academy. Held on August 2 to 15, 2009 the workshop, directed by Yves Daoust, is open to sound creators of all styles. This year Yves Daoust — assisted by Alexandre Burton, and Jean Landry — has invited guest masters Gilles Gobeil, Jean-François Laporte, John Oswald, and Hans Tutschku with special guests Robert Normandeau, and Annette Vande Gorne.

May 9 – 10, 2009: Works by Stollery, Dhomont, Gobeil, Bédard in Japan
The JSEM/MSJ Electroacoustic Festival 2009 in Nagoya (Japan) will present the works Still Voices by Pete Stollery and À propos de K by Francis Dhomont on May 9, 2009, and on May 10, Gilles Gobeil’s Castalie and Martin Bédard’s Champs de fouilles (Excavations), amongst many others. This event also includes a symposium with guest speaker Marc Battier.

As part of the Nothing New Conference, works by Gilles Gobeil and Francis Dhomont will be presented in concert at the University of Huddersfield (UK) on April 24, 2009. The programme includes, amongst others, Ombres, espaces, silences… (available on Trois songes) by Gobeil, Novars (available on Cycle du son) by Dhomont and Gesulado by Ludger Brümmer.
