Will perform: Miguel Azguime, Natasha Barrett, Nicolas Bernier, Georges Forget, Gilles Gobeil, Laurie Radford, Robert Normandeau, and the winners of the Hugh Le Caine Award of the 2007 SOCAN Foundation Awards for Young Composers. As you may know the piece Novars by Francis Dhomont will be presented as part of the MANTIS festival during the concert launch of the University of Manchester’s Studio Novars (UK). But that’s not all! This event also features the works of Martin Bédard, Nicolas Bernier, Ludger Brümmer, Marcelle Deschênes, Gilles Gobeil, Denis Smalley, Hans Tutschku, Hildegard Westerkamp, Trevor Wishart, and David Berezan and Jonty Harrison who will each world premiere a new piece… In short, this event is not to be missed and it takes place from November 2 to 4, 2007.

The 3rd part of June 18, 2007 radio programme Électrain de nuit — broadcasted on France vivace (Radio France) and hosted by Christian Zanesi and David Jisse — will be dedicated to label empreintes DIGITALes. The music from the most recent releases by Mathew Adkins, Darren Copeland, Marcelle Deschênes, Gilles Gobeil, and Adrian Moore will be on air on Monday morning June 18 from 1 am to 4 am.

May 14, 2007: Gobeil, Thibault Immersed at SAT, Montréal

Gilles Gobeil and Alain Thibault will be at the the centre of the evening “Dedans/dehors” about immersive music. In the second half of the event, the 2 guest composers will discuss about their esthetic, formal and philosophic concerns; Louis Dufort will be the moderator. This lecture will be followed by a concert given by Gilles Gobeil and Alain Thibault. Both who will share the stage with Joël Beauchamp, Pierre-Marc Beaudoin, and Jean-François Blouin. This audio immersive event wil take place on May 14, 2007 at SAT in Montréal (and it’s free…).

New Music Concerts will present its second “Rien à voir” concert on January 13, 2007 at the Isabel Bader Theatre (Toronto, Canada). The concert will feature the works Ombres, espaces, silences… by Gilles Gobeil, an excerpt of Nylong Symphony by John Oliver, Palimpseste by Robert Normandeau, and Fluke Sound by Ann Southam. Two seminal works for tape by György Ligeti, Artikulation and Glissandi, will also be presented.
