Terri Hron
Described as “a creative tightrope walker,” recorder player and composer Terri Hron likes to explore unfamiliar and risky territories. Whether alone onstage in her solo Bird on a Wire shows or at the heart of one of her collective — often multidisciplinary projects such as Portrait Collection or SpaceMelt — Terri’s work is the result of conversations and experiences shared with other musicians and artists. Collaboration and peer learning are cornerstones of her practice and research. She complements the creation of new performances with a dedication to the early repertoire of her instruments, and she often combines these two interests through contemporary re-imaginings of medieval and renaissance works. Originally from Edmonton, Canada, Terri Hron studied musicology and art history at the University of Alberta; recorder performance, contemporary music and Carnatic improvisation at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and electroacoustic composition at the Université de Montréal.
