Kristie Ibrahim

Percussionist Kristie Ibrahim has a Masters degree in Chamber Music from McGill University and has performed internationally with chamber ensembles and symphony orchestras in Canada, USA, France, Mexico, and New Zealand. As a co-founder of Montréal percussion ensemble Sixtrum, as well as percussion duo Akrostick with Fabrice Marandola, Kristie dedicates much of her career to creating new works for percussion and experimenting with new performance techniques. Devoted to arts education, she teaches percussion at McGill University and FACE School in Montréal. Kristie is passionate about working with artists from other disciplines and has collaborated extensively as a performer and sound designer with local and international choral directors, choreographers and theatre directors. Recent accolades include a Montréal English Theatre Award for Outstanding Contribution to Theatre for Sixtrum’s sound design of Angélique and a “Coup de cœur” by the Académie Charles-Cros (France) for Sixtrum’s CD De la percussion.
