Un paysage (Ouverture)
- John Oswald
- Year of composition: 1996
- Duration: 7:00
- Instrumentation: fixed medium
The original conception of this initial scene from “Un Paysage / Eine Landschaft / A Landscape” a trilingual presentation of the Heiner Mueller text “Bildbeschreibung” by the Québec City-based technological theatre group Recto/Verso has the speaker, holding a dead bird, moving out of utter dimness brightening inexorably on a miniature train track toward the audience. Most of the sound for this scene was distributed outside of the sealed auditorium, and was high amplified; and was therefore heard in the performance as conducted through the structure of the building. This Rien à Voir recital is minus the megawatts, the track, the lighting effect and the bird.
