Let’s place ourselves at the intersection of these two paths of musical expectation, horizontal and vertical.

By way of these spontaneous aptitudes, there are in fact two naturel tendencies. That which from a temporal development follows the almost-stable thread, attempting to maintain it, in attaching itself to textural micro-variations. But also that which would rather open to the breadth of the present and of sound, to its blossoming in sound space, from low to high, from near to far, more or less coloured and illuminated by ephemeral harmonies.

Following these two modalities of auditory sensation, the evolution of multiform entities will unfold in gushing, floating and redescending streams.

And these two modes of concretization of the world of forms — lines or surfaces — capture perception in quite specific ways.

While the ‘differential’ ear immediately perceives subtle modifications in duration and irregularities, the ‘arithmetical’ ear instantly discerns relationships of distance and superimposition. One welcomes incessant ‘salianties’, the other perceives and preserves the advent of ‘pregnances’.

“Bring into play these differentiated attractions, articulate contrasting sensations.
Provoke the appearance of ‘crossbred figures’.
Draw paths, perturb them, skim over them…
Cross and disentangle spatial trajectories with multiphonic sound projection. Give oneself room for play.
But first organize the polyphonies, gathering them into beams or showers.
Provoke attentive listening, attract it with brilliances, accelerate it, puncture it with silence.
Sharpen it…”

As a game, I also wanted to revive a few sound-images from previous works. Thus, might evoke a tiny fraction of Motion-émotion (in horizontal-vertical), some glissandi paths from Toupie dans le ciel (in spiral), and the girations of la fleur future (in diagonal)…
