Mark Vail, Keyboard, no. 16:9, September 1, 1990
Three experimental CDs that run the gamut from traditional to contemporary electroacoustic rnusic. Calon drenches the listener with three long, subdivided collages of electronic noises that may annoy the uninitiated, but will reward the open-minded and diligent. The predominantly electronic sounds are deep and full-bodied and woven together with no discernible rhythm into waves that range from full-bore thunderclaps to extended periods of silence. Most of Calon’s pieces move at a leisurely pace, but he turns up the heat to a frenetic tempo at times.
