Ios Smolders, Vital, no. 19, April 1, 1991

Calon speaks of his music, not in terms of what you hear but what it is supposed to say. His music is an auditive result of a feeling. And text, the expression of a message other than musical, is an important part of his compositions. We hear influences of Beaudelaire, Joyce, Artaud, a. o. And the texts fit perfectly inside the music. It reminded me of the best I have ever heard from Pierre Henry (Christal / Mémoire: a radioplay, produced for WDR in 1988). The music is for the most part electronic, and moves quietly step by step, with sometimes eruptive movements.
