A lavishly produced “homage” to one of electroacoustic music’s leading pioneers. Thematically, Dhomont’s self-dubbed Cycle of Wanderings is concerned with dislocation, flight, and escape but the physical and emotional topology of sound is the star here. Not the coldness of musique concrète, but something infinitely more alive and human. For the uninitiated, imagine Alan Splet’s sound design in Eraserhead taken to a whole new level of consciousness. Given the paucity of Dhomont’s work that is actually recorded, this double CD is an event in itself.
