we find ourselves approaching it
the lights are out / the torches lit
just like we had imagined it
the car’s went rolling off the cliff

   cursed the earth / the silent seas
   a species void of memories
   the broken walls / the littered streets
   a land at dusk of blackened trees

and though we knew / we couldn’t care
we have replaced / what should be there
with gods of hunger / gods of greed
the gods of things / the gods of need

   our bodies built a great machine
   it ate the world and sold our dreams
   the soil went black, the planet died
   a grain of sand in endless night

and when the abyss gaze at us
we see ourselves / just staring back
and hell is us / and die we must
the great machine / got filled with rust

   hell is us!
   die we must!
