On May 10, 2009, Radio France will present Un regard sonore sur Olivier Messiaen, a work realized by Bernard Fort during his one-year residency at France Culture for the Olivier Messiaen’s centenary.

There will be a meeting-debate on the frontiers between electroacoustics and electronics with François Bayle, Philippe Hurel, Sébastien Roux, Sebastian Rivas, Sébastien Béranger, and Samuel Sighicelli at the Centre de la documentation de la musique contemporaine in Paris (France) on May 7, 2009 as part of the Extension festival.

Gilles Gobeil’s work Castalie has been awarded the First prize (audio) at the 6th Black & White Audiovisual Festival in Porto (Portugal) (April 22 to 25, 2009).

The Orford Arts Centre (Québec) announces its 4th Sound Art Workshop as part of the International Music Academy. Held on August 2 to 15, 2009 the workshop, directed by Yves Daoust, is open to sound creators of all styles. This year Yves Daoust — assisted by Alexandre Burton, and Jean Landry — has invited guest masters Gilles Gobeil, Jean-François Laporte, John Oswald, and Hans Tutschku with special guests Robert Normandeau, and Annette Vande Gorne.

The 5th Qwartz Electronic Music Awards took place on April 3, 2009 at Cirque d’hiver Bouglione in Paris (France). Lionel Marchetti has been awarded the Artist Qwartz and won in the experimental category with his work Adèle et Hadrien (le livre des vacances). In the artwork and packaging category, the winner is Skoltz_Kolgen’s video Silent Room. Christian Zanési has been awarded the Special Qwartz.

Hildegard Westerkamp will give a conference on her compositional work related to soundscape studies on April 20, 2009 at the Goldsmiths University of London (UK).
