Sixteen clear-plexiglass discs of prePlexure were individually lathe-cut prior to its vinyl release in 2010. These individually lathe-cut discs are likely the clearest playable records in the world! And each one has a unique visual moire pattern resulting from the relationship of each side’s spiral groove.
Of these 16 discs, only a handful remains and John Oswald has combined these clear-plexiglass discs with a couple acetate sheets — a portrait image and a facsimile signature by a major star musician from the ’80s — all packaged in a transparent sleeve.
Each of these “unique” sets also includes a one-page handwritten document of authenticity, the never-for-sale 1988 Plunderphonics EP (WRC 15744) and the 2010 prePlexure LP (FONY 82).
The collector set currently available is: plexiPrePlexure “bono”. (Once sold, another “unique” set featuring another major star musician from the ’80s will be made available.)
