Michel F Côté

An omnipresent composer and musician, Michel F Côté was born in Montréal the year that, for the first time, a vessel — the submarine USS Nautilus — travelled under the ice cap of the North Pole. Since then, he has composed extensively for theatre and dance. To date, he has collaborated on more than 120 projects. In dance, he has worked with Catherine Tardif, Louise Bédard, Catherine Lavoie-Marcus and Sylvain Émard; in theatre, with Wajdi Mouawad, Simon Boudreault, Martin Faucher and Robert Lepage. He is co-artistic director of the dance company Et Marianne et Simon. Since 1990, he has produced and co-produced more than seventy recordings. He is associated with the Ambiances Magnétiques label and is the co-founder of the &records label. He now runs the Sono Sordo label. His musical mastery is documented in the following ensembles: Mecha Fixes Clocks, Klaxon Gueule, Jane & The Magick Bananas, Pink Saliva, Torche!, Quatuor Minéraliste, UrsDeMould, and Tiari Kese — a duo with himself. In June 2022, he published the book Danses à venir. Written in collaboration with Catherine Lavoie-Marcus, Danses à venir is a collection of 161 speculations on the art of choreography. More
