  • September 18, 2003: Truax at Música Viva, Lisbon

    Música Viva 2003, the International Festival of Electroacoustic Music held in Coimbra’s Museu dos Transportes (Portugal), presents 6 days of concerts from September 12 to 18, 2003. Composer Barry Truax will present an octophonic concert September 17, featuring works of Wende Bartley and Laurie Radford (with viola by Laura Wilcox). The following night, September 19, the concert is dedicated to mixed works for percussions with compositions by Kaija Saariaho, Beatriz Ferreyra and Elsa Justel.

    Bourges 2002: Rewarded Composers

    Canadian composer Marcelle Deschênes is one of the rewarded composers at the 2002 edition of the Bourges International Electroacoustic Competition where she was awarded the prize for best “multi-media work” for Die Dyer (video by Alain Pelletier). Elsa Justel received a mention in the same category for her work Destellos. For the “studio work without instrument” category, canadian composer David Berezan won the Trivium award. In the same category, composer Jens Hedman received a mention for his work REcoil. In addition to the rewarded musics, the compositions Gwerz by Elsa Justel, Low Memory #2 by Monique Jean and L’éveil d’un titan by Jean-François Laporte had been selected in their respective categories.

    Composer Elsa Justel will give a lecture and a master class at the 1st Russian International Electronic and Electroacoustic Music Festival held in St Petersburg from July 19 to August 1, 2002. Also, her acousmatic work Gwerz will be premiered on June 3, 2002 during the “Synthèse 2002” festival in Bourges (France).
