“Inside the eye of silence,” a collaborative sound installation by Rob Godman and Vivienne Spiteri, will receive its European premiere on December 19, 2003 in Barcelona (Spain), as part of the “En Red 0 2003. LocAlgSon.” This year event is a Max/MSP — Pure Data specific activity, focused on works for 8 loudspeakers.

Jon Vaughn invites everyone to a celebration around the CD Front, recently released on the No Type label. Many performnces are scheduled, amongst other an electroacoustic presentation by Steve Reed, dj sets by Holzkopf and Scant Intone and video interventions by Carrie Gates. In the absence of Max Haiven, Jon Vaughn will perform a solo version of Front. This CD launch will be held Friday December 26, 2003 at Saskatoon’s AKA Gallery.

The Volt-AA (08) concert sees the gathering of Jean-Pierre Gauthier, USA minimalist composer Richard Chartier in his long awaited first appearance in Montréal since Mutek 2000, Cal Crawford whose minimal works combine rigorous sound research as well as risk taking, and i8u, who makes a return to Volt-AA following a long period of sound research and exploration to present yet another fascinating journey into digital manipulation of field and studio recordings. The concert is held on December 9, 2003 at Montréal’s Société des arts technologiques (SAT).

Francis Dhomont is one of the guest composers at the “Other Minds 10” festival in San Francisco (USA), March 4-6, 2004 where he will present Les moirures du temps and Phonurgie. The movie My Cinema for the Ears, which features M. Dhomont, will also be presented.

Robert Normandeau will give a solo concert for the Danish Institute of Electroacoustic Music (DIEM) festival in Århus (Denmark) November 27, 2003. This concert will be the chance for the composer to present all his latest works in a multichannel format. In addition to Chorus (2002), Le renard et la rose (1995) and StrinGDberg (2001-03), this concert will be an occasion to listen to the new version of Éden (2003) and will see the European creation of Hamlet-Machine with Actors (2003) recently premiered in Vancouver. Apart from this concert, Normandeau will give a lecture and participate in two master class with Natasha Barrett (in concert November 26, 2003) and Wayne Siegel.

From November 10 to 17 2003, Paul Dolden will be guest composer at the 13th Festival de Musica Contemporanea in Santiago (Chile). Amongst the works presented will be the premiere of Twilight #2, a new 25-minute mixed work for cello, violin, piano, and tape to be performed by the Trio Fibonacci.
