  • June 18, 2005: No Type at Suoni Per Il Popolo, Montréal

    The No Type label will be well represented at the next edition of the Suoni Per Il Popolo festival (Sounds for the People) presented in Montréal in June 2005. On June 8, 2005, morceaux_de_machines and Esther B will play alongside Howard Stelzer and Bernhard Gal Intransitive Recordings label from Cambridge (USA). Then, two electronic superstars, Magali Babin and Jon Vaughn, will present an exclusive collaboration on June 18, 2005 for the Libératrices: créatrices night, dedicated to women in improvisation.

    May 29, 2005: Daoust, Calon, Dumas at Deep Wireless 2005, Toronto

    Yves Daoust is one of the artists selected to produce a work to be presented on May 27 and 28, 2005 as part of the festival Deep Wireless. The artist will also be giving a short talk during the “Radio Without Boundaries” conference. About Time is a short sound documentary which aims to bring the tape recorder back to life. The work will be broadcast on CBC Radio in May 2005. Chantal Dumas and Christian Calon will also take part in the “Radioroad Mix” with a live presentation of “The little man in the ear” [Le petit homme dans l’oreille] on May 29, 2005.

    June 14, 2005: Lectures and Concert by Dhomont in Vienna

    Following an invitaion from Igor Lintz-Maues and Germán Toro Perez, Francis Dhomont will be in Vienna from June 7 to 14, 2005. A great concert of five of his works from 1998 to 2003 (including a presentation of his Cycle du son) will be held at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Wien on June 8. On June 13 and 14, the composer will give conferences at the Institut für Komposition und Elektroakustik: L’acousmatique, une musique fixée et projetée (Acousmatic, a fixed and projected music) and Hypothèses sur un parcours personnel (Hypothesis on a personnal trajectory).

    May 22, 2005: 3 Electro Angles in Brussels

    From May 20 to 22, 2005, Musiques & Recherches will present three concerts at Brussels’s Petit Théâtre Mercelis (Belgium) that explores the multiple sensibilities of contemporary electroacoustic music. The concert dedicated to mixed works for tape and piano will feature Figures de rhétorique by Robert Normandeau (Belgian premiere), … sofferte onde serene by Luigi Nono, Cadran solaire by Ingrid Drese and Faisceaux by Annette Vande Gorne (Belgian premiere).

    This May, Harvard University Studio for Electroacoustic Composition (HUSEAC) is bringing the multi-dimensional sonic monster, “Hydra,” to Midway Studios in Fort Point (USA) complete with sound-sculpture installations, live-electronic performances and a unique 30-speaker surround environment. On Friday, May 6, 2005 “Hydra” meets Frankenstein: Francis Dhomont’s remarkable Frankenstein Symphony.
