During the next Époxy (a music series that presents works based on a relation between a composer and a theorist, mathematician, philosopher, architect or another artist) Magali Babin will present a piece that relates to Sophie Calle’s work, Nicolas Bernier will make reference to the essay The Electronic Revolution by William S Burroughs, and Chantal Dumas will offer a composition based on the two different worlds of John Cage and of Toronto artist Mike Hoolboom. On April 15 the installation Trade Winds, premiered last February, will be presented as part of the LARM — Nordic Sound Art Festival in Stockholm.

Alternate Visions, an “augmented” opera by John Oliver using state-of-the-art technology, will be presented on May 1 — 5, 2007 at Usine C, in Montréal. The music of Chants libres’s 12th production is signed by John Oliver, the libretto by Genni Gunn, and is staged by Pauline Vaillancourt.

Trio Ars Circa Musicæ (with Pierre Alexandre Tremblay, Nicolas Stephan, and Sébastien Brun) will be releasing its first album on Ora during a short tour in France: first, in Lyon on June 1 and 2, playing with the Grolektif collective; and then in Paris on June 5 in the very hip underground venue Les Voûtes (on des Frigos street).

The world premiere of ReCycle — Jonty Harrison’s cycle of four 8-channel works including Rock ’n’ Roll, Internal Combustion, Free Fall, and Streams — will take place on May 25, 2007 as part of the BEAST concerts in Birmingham (UK). Furthermore, a piece by Hans Tutschku will be presented on May 26, and Scott Wilson with Jonty Harrison will present an introduction to BEAST’s diffusion research project on May 27.

[iks], Pierre Alexandre Tremblay’s contemporary jazz ensemble, will present its concert Le cauchemar de l’horloger (The Clocksmith’s Nightmare) — an exploration of contemporary jazz with real-time video and audio processing — for an upcoming DVD-Video release. The performances will take place at studio DBComMedia on April 13-14. •• La rage — Tremblay’s 50-minute work for free jazz drummer, processing, and interactive system — will be performed by Ståle Birkeland in the upcoming festival The Sound Source: Electromania — London (produced by SPNM) at the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) in London (UK) on April 19. •• The work Sandbox#1.n for bass and computer will be presented on April 21 at the Sonorities Festival in Belfast (UK).
