Irish composer Roger Doyle has won the prestigious Magisterium Award at the Bourges International Electroacoustic Music and Sound Art Competition in France — one of the most important prizes in the world for electronic music. Of his prize-winning work The Ninth Set Doyle says: “To me the music has a supernatural feeling to it, but I have kept the title neutral, so that you can imagine what it is yourselves.” To know more about him, visit the Roger Doyle’s page.

Robert Normandeau will take part in the Electroacoustic Music Studies Conference in Leicester (UK), from June 12-15, 2007, to present a lecture entitled “La spatialisation timbrale ou le médium, c’est l’espace.” After that, he will go to the Musiques & Recherches studio in Belgium, from June 16 to July 1, to compose a new piece celebrating the 20th anniversary of Rumeurs (Place de Ransbeck). This work was composed in 1987, where Robert Normandeau was the first foreign composer invited to Musiques & Recherches. Annette Vande Gorne will be giving two workshops this summer: the first one, on electroacoustic composition, will take place from August 28 to September 2, 2007, the other one, concerning the spatialized performance of acousmatic music, will take place from September 4 to 9.

Martin Bédard’s Check-point has been selected at the Soundworks competition, which theme is “Borders Sounds-Sounds from the Borders.” It is organized by RadioPapesse (Italy) il collaboration with the Fabbrica Europa 2007 festival.

The 3rd part of June 18, 2007 radio programme Électrain de nuit — broadcasted on France vivace (Radio France) and hosted by Christian Zanesi and David Jisse — will be dedicated to label empreintes DIGITALes. The music from the most recent releases by Mathew Adkins, Darren Copeland, Marcelle Deschênes, Gilles Gobeil, and Adrian Moore will be on air on Monday morning June 18 from 1 am to 4 am.

R(h)umeur collective, a radio work initiated by artist Maki was designed with short pieces (1 min.) realised by composers from all around the world. The 1st part of the piece was broadcasted last March on Radia. The 2nd part, composed thanks to the contribution of 23 artists — of whom Francis Dhomont — will be broadcasted on June 1, 2007 on Radio Grenouille. Note that the programme will be archived.
