  • February 23 – March 29, 2008: d’Orion Without Pianist in Montréal

    The sound installation Solo de musique concrète pour 6 pianos sans pianiste by Érick d’Orion will now be presented to Montréalers. The sound space imagined by the artist invites the public to rediscover the piano in a “concrete” perspective, exploring it without the usual intermediaries (scores, musicians). 6 pianos of different eras will react to impulsions given by eccentrics mechanics placed on the structures. On February 23 to March 29, 2008 at Oboro in Montréal.

    November 15, 2007 – January 31, 2008: Babin in Residence at Studio XX, Montréal

    Magali Babin, artist whose sonorous performances are characterized by a minimalistic approach, is in residence at Studio XX (Montréal) from mid-November 2007 until January 31, 2008. During the residence, she will create a game interface for an interactive performance inspired by Tor (decentralized network that allows anonymous connexion on the Internet); a project to experimenting techniques of surveillance, concepts of simulation and technological hoaxes.

    Stollery Awarded for Still Voices

    Pete Stollery’s acousmatic piece Still Voices (part of the Gordon Soundscape project) was a finalist at the Sounds Electric ’07 Competition (Ireland), and at Musica Nova 2007 International Electroacoustic Music Competition (Czech Republic).

    November 21 – 28, 2007: Parra in concert in Mexico

    Arturo Parra will give 2 concerts as part of the Visiones Sonoras festival in Mexico City and Morelia (Mexico), from November 21 to 28, 2007. He will present the complete Parr(A)cousmatique cycle of works (a Latino-American premiere) and will premiere his Aljibe profundo for guitar and vocal expressions. Finally, he will propose a master class, during the festival, about interactions between electroacousticians and instrumental composers.
