On June 14, 2024, the degree of Doctor of Fine Arts, honoris causa, was conferred on Hildegard Westerkamp from Simon Fraser University (SFU) in British Columbia (Canada).

“Hildegard Westerkamp’s compositions have been performed and broadcast in many parts of the world. The majority of her compositional output deals with aspects of the acoustic environment: with urban, rural or wilderness soundscapes, with the voices of children, men and women, with noise or silence, music and media sounds, or with the sounds of different cultures, and so on.”

Michel Chion consacre son récent billet à Francis Dhomont: «Francis Dhomont nous a quittés le 28 décembre dernier, en Avignon où, après avoir vécu et enseigné à Montréal, il s’était installé pour sa retraite d’enseignant avec sa femme, l’artiste colombienne Inés Wickmann. Né en 1926, un an donc avant Pierre Henry, il était notre doyen à toutes et tous. Inés et son amie Annette Vande Gorne ont fait circuler la nouvelle, et les hommages de compositeurs·trices internationaux, auxquels je me suis joint, n’ont cessé d’affluer pendant quelques jours sur ma boite mail. L’homme, ouvert, chaleureux et qui a beaucoup fait pour les autres, y était autant loué que l’œuvre.»
