Continuation of the Rien à voir series, the Akousma (4) mini-festival presents electroacoustic music in its many forms on November 28 to December 1, 2007 at the Monument-National in Montréal. Will perform: Miguel Azguime, Natasha Barrett, Nicolas Bernier, Georges Forget, Gilles Gobeil, Laurie Radford, Robert Normandeau, and the winners of the Hugh Le Caine Award of the 2007 SOCAN Foundation Awards for Young Composers. A unique event, in Montréal. Not to be missed!

Great guitarists — Andrew York, Eduardo Isaac, Luis Orlandini, Ana Vidovic — and electro composers — Francis Dhomont, Gilles Gobeil, Robert Normandeau, Stéphane Roy, Mauricio Bejarano — will be at the 2nd Festival Internacional de Guitarra Clásica that will take place from November 6 to 10, 2007 in Santafé de Bogotá (Colombia). Arturo Parra will present the complete Parr(A)cousmatique in concert on November 9 at Escuela de música y audio Fernando Sor.

The new piece Back to Square One by Pete Stollery which was commissioned by IMEB will be premiered on November 1, 2007 during the Sound Festival in Aberdeen (Scotland, UK). This year, the festival features Francoise Barrière’s music and other works from the Bourges competition(including Power Tools by Adrian Moore). Back to Square One will then be performed again at Soundings in Edinburgh on November 3.

Francis Dhomont will present Vol d’Arondes on November 21, 2007 and Sol y sombra… L’espace des spectres (for guitar and tape) during the concert given by Arturo Parra. Those concerts are scheduled in the Visiones Sonoras festival programme in Mexico (Mexico). A master class about spatilization and a lecture are also in the event programme.

As you may know the piece Novars by Francis Dhomont will be presented as part of the MANTIS festival during the concert launch of the University of Manchester’s Studio Novars (UK). But that’s not all! This event also features the works of Martin Bédard, Nicolas Bernier, Ludger Brümmer, Marcelle Deschênes, Gilles Gobeil, Denis Smalley, Hans Tutschku, Hildegard Westerkamp, Trevor Wishart, and David Berezan and Jonty Harrison who will each world premiere a new piece… In short, this event is not to be missed and it takes place from November 2 to 4, 2007.

Arturo Parra will present in concert the entire Parr(A)cousmatique during the 9th Festival Internacional de Música Contemporánea de Bogotá (Colombia). This concert will take place on October 19, 2007 in Universidad Nacional de Colombia’s León de Greiff hall. Arturo Parra will also give a seminar about sound exploration and multidisciplinary creation on October 17 at Academia Superior de Artes de Bogotá.
