    The world premiere of ReCycleJonty Harrison’s cycle of four 8-channel works including Rock ’n’ Roll, Internal Combustion, Free Fall, and Streams — will take place on May 25, 2007 as part of the BEAST concerts in Birmingham (UK). Furthermore, a piece by Hans Tutschku will be presented on May 26, and Scott Wilson with Jonty Harrison will present an introduction to BEAST’s diffusion research project on May 27.

    [iks], Pierre Alexandre Tremblay’s contemporary jazz ensemble, will present its concert Le cauchemar de l’horloger (The Clocksmith’s Nightmare) — an exploration of contemporary jazz with real-time video and audio processing — for an upcoming DVD-Video release. The performances will take place at studio DBComMedia on April 13-14. •• La rageTremblay’s 50-minute work for free jazz drummer, processing, and interactive system — will be performed by Ståle Birkeland in the upcoming festival The Sound Source: Electromania — London (produced by SPNM) at the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) in London (UK) on April 19. •• The work Sandbox#1.n for bass and computer will be presented on April 21 at the Sonorities Festival in Belfast (UK).

    March 29, 2007: d’Orion Without Pianist in Québec City

    Érick d’Orion will present his Solo de musique concrète pour 6 pianos sans pianiste ausio installation, realized as part of a Recto-Verso artist residency programme. The space imagined by the artist invites people to rediscover the piano in a “concrete” perspective, exploring it without the usual intermediaries (scores, musicians). 6 pianos of different eras will react to impulsions given by eccentrics mechanics placed on the structures. The event takes place on Thursday March 29, 2007 at the Studio d’Essai of Méduse in Québec City.

Amongst other titles, Liaisons mécaniques by Nicolas Bernier (commissioned by Musiques & Recherches with the support of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec), the new piece Arenas by Horacio Vaggione, and Distance liquide by Hans Tutschku.
