“Stockhausen’s Hymnen is much more blatant in its plunderphonicizing, time-stretching, and soniferosity, but the distorted glimpses of the rest of the world of music through KS’s particular aural vision, and its method of creation (a section per day over the course of a month’s stay in a foreign land, delineated by percussive scene changes) were intriguing when i first heard Telemusik, and besides, Hymnen is a whole concert in itself. I think you may also notice the influence Telemusik has had on my new piece, Just. Unlike the Xenakis piece, i consider the phonographic artifacts, on my original vinyl copy, merely distracting. This is the CD stereo mix down of the original currently unplayable 5-track master.”
