The structure of White Dove is modular, consisting of a group of internally complete sections: Episodes and Cadenzas. Their characters, while not mutually exclusive, are distinct with the latter emphasizing virtuosity and linear motion, the former emphasizing noise and space. These alternate; the choice of order and number of modules is left to the performer. The electronic component of White Dove comprises pre-composed soundfiles specific to the episodes as well as an overall background track and live electronic processing of the flute part.

White Dove was composed between 2007 and ’08 and revised in ’09. The piece was commissioned by Chenoa Anderson with funding from the New Brunswick Arts Board.
