The rumble of thunder preceded the storm, and now we are in the midst of it. Are we truly aware of the climate crisis that is disrupting ecosystems?

A headlong rush caused by a blind or indolent conscience. Beyond the cry of the sirens, a maelstrom will shake our universe, the consequence of our numb vigilance. Let us listen to these warning signals that alert us to the fall of worlds; perhaps awakening will one day revive hope.

Le cri des sirènes was realized in 2025-26 at the composer’s studio in Brossard and then in Rimouski (Québec), and at the Productions Totem contemporain workshop in Montréal (Québec). The piece was commissioned by Productions Totem contemporain with support from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ). Thanks to Jean-François Laporte, artistic director of Productions Totem contemporain, for his wonderful collaboration in exploring the instrumental possibilities of the siren organ, to Diego Bermudez Chamberland for his valuable technical assistance, and to Claudine Jomphe (recorded voice).
