No Type (www.notype.com) is a free MP3-only “label” with sharp design and a roster of promising-to-excellent electronic post-dance music. The best of its offerings to date is Oeuf Korreckt’s Scrambled Oeuf, six unsettling but oddly pretty tracks with pinprick polyrhythms and resonant purrs that are very much in Autechre’s sector of the aesthetic hard drive. The lengthy, chilly pieces on Tomas Jirku’s Immaterial, Basic Channel-style throbs and echoes, are worth a download, too. Reflexivity alert: tracing limelite’s “The Explanation Project,” a set of remixes of a brief, spoken description of how to remix said description (just trust us on this one).
