Cinéma pour l’oreille has just released L’étoile absinthe by Michèle Bokanowski and Dix-sept minutes by Michel Chion.

Canadian composer Marcelle Deschênes is one of the rewarded composers at the 2002 edition of the Bourges International Electroacoustic Competition where she was awarded the prize for best “multi-media work” for Die Dyer (video by Alain Pelletier). Elsa Justel received a mention in the same category for her work Destellos. For the “studio work without instrument” category, canadian composer David Berezan won the Trivium award. In the same category, composer Jens Hedman received a mention for his work REcoil. In addition to the rewarded musics, the compositions Gwerz by Elsa Justel, Low Memory #2 by Monique Jean and L’éveil d’un titan by Jean-François Laporte had been selected in their respective categories.

At the Synthèse 2002 festival (Bourges, May 31 to June 9, 2002), vivie’ vinçent will project and spatialize the new mix (2002) of Physics of Seduction. Invocation #2, a work for harpsichord and tape written in 1991 by Paul Dolden for vivienne spiteri at her request. In addition, vivie’ vincent will project and spatialize the 2nd movement of The Desert Speaks… Praescio III, the first piece written for her harpsichord with its prototype MIDI system. This work was written by Bruce Pennycook in 1988 for and at the request of vivienne spiteri.

Acousmatics, improvisation and orchestrated works united for a wonderful hommage to the African continent.

Composer Elsa Justel will give a lecture and a master class at the 1st Russian International Electronic and Electroacoustic Music Festival held in St Petersburg from July 19 to August 1, 2002. Also, her acousmatic work Gwerz will be premiered on June 3, 2002 during the “Synthèse 2002” festival in Bourges (France).

Artists duo fuchs-eckermann (Mathias Fuchs, Sylvia Eckermann) presents an interactive installation called Expositur — A Virtual Knowledge Space at Helsinki’s Kiasma museum of contemporary art (Finland), in which several museums are linked together in an interactive environment based on the Unreal game engine.
