Good news for Martin Bédard: his piece Topographie de la noirceur has been selected for the Los Angeles Sonic Odyssey 2008, as well as for the 2008 SEAMUS!

The audio-video intallation Breath Control by Darren Copeland will be presented from March 5 - 16, 2008 (Wednesday to Sunday) at Gallery 1313 in Toronto (Canada). Opening reception with the artist in attendance is on March 6.

The DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) has hosted a number of Canadian electroacoustic composers over the years such as: Robin Minard, Gordon Monahan, Christian Calon, Francis Dhomont, and Robert Normandeau. The DEGEM and ZKM propose a WebRadio programme which features works composed by these past guest artists as well as by the newest Canadian guest, Gilles Gobeil, in Berlin since January 2008. The Programme B is under section “Berichte/Features.”

The Montréal High Lights Festival will end its 9th edition with Montréal All-Nighter event on Saturday March 1, 2008. Érick d’Orion’s Solo de musique concrète pour 6 pianos sans pianiste audio installation will be presented for the occasion from 8 pm to 3 am at Oboro, Montréal.

The Orford Arts Centre (Québec) announces its 3rd Sound Art Workshop as part of the International Music Academy. Held on August 4 to 16, 2008 the workshop, directed by Yves Daoust, is open to sound creators of all styles. This year Yves Daoust has invited guest composers Natasha Barrett, Alexandre Burton, Jean Landry, and Paul Rudy. This year, the registered participants will be able to collaborate with performers of the Contemporary Music Interpretation Workshop.

Jean-François Denis will participate to the RCMN’s Workshops Tour, and present a lecture entitled Technical, Practical, Historical and Philosophical Issues of Recorded New Music in the 21st Century. This tour will take place from February 17 to 24, 2008 in the cities of Halifax, Toronto, Victoria, and Vancouver (Canada).
