Not to be missed: An homage concert for Marcelle Deschênes and launch of her disc petits Big Bangs on April 25, 2007 at Salle Claude-Champagne of Université de Montréal.

The petits Big Bangs by Marcelle Deschênes are a true retrospective of her mixed, multimedia & acousmatic work from 1976 to 2002. 6 pieces — mastered by Dominique Bassal — to be savoured in 24-bit sound. Jean-Noël von der Weid writes “Marcelle Deschênes’ creations devour. Because they are brief monuments; apocalyptic waves breaking over extremely small spaces; amazed innocence within the thickness of opacity; exuberance and decomposition.” Rosemary Mountain adds “Stormy, serene, tender, bold — the music of Marcelle Deschênes moves with ease through the gamut of emotions, often with an exhilarating rapidity.”

Normandeau will present conferences at Birmingham University on March 15, at Manchester University on March 22, and at Huddersfield University on March 23. Part of the GEMdays concert series, Robert Normandeau will give a concert at Huddersfield University on March 23, 2006, featuring his works Rumeurs (Place de Ransbeck), Palimpseste, Chorus, and StrinGDberg.

Also featured during GEMdays: a concert of audiovisual works by Mathew Adkins, Marcelle Deschênes + Alain Pelletier, and Milliseconde topographie (Nicolas Bernier + Delphine Measroch) on March 25 as well as concerts by Jean Piché on March 27 and Pierre Alexandre Tremblay on March 28, 2006.

Musiques & Recherches presents Patchwork au féminin (A Feminine Patchwork), a concert of acousmatique music dedicated to works composed by women, on November 11, 2005 in Brussels. Natasha Barrett, Marcelle Deschênes, Beatriz Ferreyra, Monique Jean, Elainie Lillios, Roxanne Turcotte and Annette Vande Gorne are amongst the selected composers.

The Groupe de musiques vivantes de Lyon (GMVL) welcomes Marcelle Deschênes. The composer will give a concert of her acousmatic works on September 15, 2004 at Lyon’s Théâtre de la Villa Gillet (France).
