Pete Stollery’s acousmatic piece Still Voices (part of the Gordon Soundscape project) was a finalist at the Sounds Electric ’07 Competition (Ireland), and at Musica Nova 2007 International Electroacoustic Music Competition (Czech Republic).

The new piece Back to Square One by Pete Stollery which was commissioned by IMEB will be premiered on November 1, 2007 during the Sound Festival in Aberdeen (Scotland, UK). This year, the festival features Francoise Barrière’s music and other works from the Bourges competition(including Power Tools by Adrian Moore). Back to Square One will then be performed again at Soundings in Edinburgh on November 3.

The 7th International Electroacoustic Music Contest of São Paulo (CIMESP 2007) received works of 208 composers from 33 countries! The international jury formed by Christian Calon, Gilles Gobeil, Flô Menezes and João Pedro Oliveira has awarded, amongst others, Liaisons mécaniques by Nicolas Bernier (2nd Prize ex aequo) and honorable mentions were given to 7 works, including those of Elizabeth Anderson, Manuella Blackburn, António Ferreira, Raúl Minsburg, Steingrimur Rohloff, Diana Simpson, Hans Tutschku. Premières traces du Choucas by Francis Dhomont won the Public Prize.

Were also announced the selected works for the upcoming 7th International Biennial for Electroacoustic Music of São Paulo (VII BIMESP 2008) in the fall of 2008. They include: Last Thoughts Before Silence by Mathew Adkins, scènes, rendez-vous by Pete Stollery, Kaleidoscope: Arcade by Peter Batchelor, When I was Wood by Stephan Dunkelman.

Futura 2007, the international festival of acousmatic art, will take place from August 17 au 19, 2007 in Crest (France). This festival’s edition build around Christian Zanési’s work will notably host, Amongst many composers, Mathew Adkins, Patrick Ascione, Darren Copeland, Denis Dufour, Chantal Dumas, Bernard Parmegiani, Laurie Radford, Pete Stollery, Benjamin Thigpen, and Annette Vande Gorne.

The piece scènes, rendez-vous by Pete Stollery will be presented as part of the Hipersônica festival in São Paulo (Brazil) that will take place from August 14 to 17, 2007 (their website will be launched on August 13); and as part of the Futura festival that will take place from August 17 to 19th in Crest (France). Christian Calon, Robert Normandeau and Pete Stollery will take part in the Invisible Art event presented on March 2 to 4, 2007 by the Birmingham ElectroAcoustic Sound Theatre (BEAST). The works Les corps éblouis, Puzzle, and scènes, rendez-vous will be presented.
