  • Composers: Call for Works and Competitions

    The 35th Synthèse festival (Bourges, 2005) is asking for the participation of composers and sound artists in an open work project under the theme “Future worlds, automata and machines to get there.” Participants must send the information about their work, title and duration, before the end of March 2005. They must also send exclusively by email their programme note, biography and photography before April 30, 2005. All the selected works will be played continuously during the Synthèse 2005 festival. Moreover, the international Bourges competitions are now open. Candidates must choose to participate in one of the several sections. Candidates’ work and duly filled registration forms must be mailed prior to May 7, 2005. For more details, please visit www.imeb.net.

    Lastly, Miso Music Portugal presents the 6th edition of the electroacoutic music competition Música Viva 2005. The competition is opened to composers under 35 years of age.     Dolden, Roy Win Opus Prizes

    Composers Paul Dolden and Stéphane Roy each won an Opus Prize in their respective categories. Dolden won in the “Disc of the Year — Musique actuelle, Electroacoustics” category for his recent album Seuil de silences (an expanded and entirely remixed and remastered reissue of The Threshold of Deafening Silence). Roy won in the “Book of the Year” category for his L’analyse des musiques électroacoustiques (“Models and propositions for electroacoustic music analysis”).

    At the same time DIFFUSION i MéDIA celebrates 10 years of online presence. We have picked in our arechives several screenshots to witness both the evolution of the web standards and of our own website. Glance at our {cdoc:apropos.historique/site history/cdoc}. At the same time empreintes DIGITALes launched its first release, Ligne de vie: récits électriques, as a CD, on January 30, 1990, now 15 years ago. Its 75th title, Puzzles, a DVD-Audio with high-fidelity 24-bit stereo and 5.1 Surround versions, is now available.

    Roy is Three Times Nominee at Opus

    L’analyse des musiques électroacoustiques by Stéphane Roy is nominated for the Conseil québécois de la musique’s 8th Opus Prizes in the category “Book of the Year.” The author, who is a composer, also sees his most recent album, Migrations, nominated in the category “Disc of the Year — Musique actuelle, Electroacoustics” and his article L’utopie, contrée fertile de l’aventure électroacoustique, published in Circuit, musiques contemporaines, nominated for “Article of the Year.”
