“mysterious strings” / plucked strings on an ancient instrument / a sound emerging from the distant past / resonating through the centuries / enduring and timeless / a witness to the present.

The electroacoustic tape part was realized at the University of Calgary Electroacoustic Music Studio using a Macintosh IIcx computer with SampleCell. Hsüan was commissioned by Zhang Yan with financial assistance provided by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.
