  • And the Winners of the 6th Destellos Competition Are…

    The Foundation Destellos announced today the results of the 6th edition of its electroacoustic composition competition: the first prize was awarded to Daniel Judkovski for his work El exilio infinito. Three ex æquo second prizes have been awarded to works by Jonty Harrison, John Nichols III, and Sophie Delafontaine. The first prize of the mixed music category was awarded to Timothy Roy for his work Wunderkind; the second prizes was awarded to João Pedro Oliveira for his work Vox sum vitæ.

    BEAST is to celebrate its 30 years of activity with 3 concerts on December 1 and 2, 2012 during the inauguration week of the Bramall Music Building and its Elgar Concert Hall at the University of Birmingham (England, UK). The concerts are titled Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow and will present premieres by Jonty Harrison, and Constantinos Kontos, and works by Pete Stollery, Denis Smalley, Andrew Lewis, and students.

    The happy superposition of the festival Sound Travels and of the Toronto Electroacoustic Symposium (TES) brings together concerts and keynote presentation with Jonty Harrison, David Berezan, Yves Daoust and many others. The main concert of Sound Travels and the symposium take place on August 10 - 13, 2011 at Artscape Wychwood Barns in Toronto (Canada). The following week, August 16 - 20, will present an intensive workshop with Jonty Harrison, David Ogborn, Darren Copeland, Rob Cruickshank, and Marla Hlady in the same venue, Artscape Wychwood Barns.

    At the initiative of composer Stephan Dunkelman, 4 acousmatic composers amongst the most important of the genre — François Bayle, Francis Dhomont, Beatriz Ferreyra, and Bernard Parmegiani — pay homage to the work of Annette Vande Gorne on May 9, 2011 at a concert in Flagey in Brussels (Belgium). They will each diffuse a work by Vande Gorne and premiere a new work of their own. On the same programme are more premieres by Jonty Harrison, Ingrid Drese, Raúl Minsburg, and Elsa Justel.

    Jonty Harrison will be touring Northern California on January 9-12, 2011 with three different solo multichannel concerts. Starting on January 9 at The San Francisco Tape Music Festival 2010, Jonty Harrison will then give a talk and second concert at the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA) at Stanford University on January 10, and a thrid concert at the Center for New Music and Audio Technologies (CNMAT) at UC Berkeley on January 12. At these concerts he will diffuse works from the following: BEASTory, … et ainsi de suite…, Hot Air, Internal Combustion, Klang, Rock ’n’ Roll, Splintering, Streams, Undertow, and Unsound Objects.
