  • October 20 – 31, 2008: Robert Normandeau Is Visiting Bangor

    Robert Normandeau will be composer in residence at Bangor University (Whales, UK) from October 20 to 31, 2008 as the 2008-09 Parry Williams Visiting Composer Fellow. He will start the composition of a new piece to be premiered in 2009. During his residency, he will give a conference, a master class, and on October 30 a concert solo of recent works: Murmures, Palimpseste, Kuppel, Chorus, and StrinGDberg. The same evening Jonty Harrison will premiere his piece Phantom Power.

    Winners of the 35th Bourges Competitions

    The winners of the 35th Bourges’ International Competitions of Electroacoustic Music and Sound Art have been anounced. Amongst others, the following works have been awarded: Orages d’acier by Georges Forget (prize, Degree I — residence); Internal Combustion by Jonty Harrison (mention, Degree II — Trivium/Quadrivium); Walk That Way. Tuesday, Turn. by Pierre Alexandre Tremblay (mention, 7th category: work for multimedia); and L’accordéon du Diable by João Pedro Oliveira (Degree III — Magisterium).

    BEAST continues celebrating its 25th anniversary with two concerts of music by BEAST composers past and present, with works by Jonty Harrison, Scott Wilson, Andrew Lewis, Alistair MacDonald, Iain Armstrong, Tom Cahill-Jones, Lisa Whistlecroft, Chris Tarren (one of the winners of the 2007 COMPASS Composition Prize) and many more. The concerts will take place on March 8-9, 2008 at CBSO Centre, Birmingham (England, UK).
