La basilique fantôme by Arturo Parra and Stéphane Roy has been selected by the 7th Festival Internacional de Música Electroacústica, Ai-maako 2007 in Santiago (Chile), and will be presented on October 17, 2007. Also note the presence of Åke Parmerud who will present a portrait concert, Francis Dhomont, Beatriz Ferreyra, Elsa Justel, João Pedro Oliveira, Hans Tutschku, and Trevor Wishart Amongst many others…

The Université de Montréal will present a doctorate honorary degree to Francis Dhomont on October 12, 2007 at 4:30 pm. For the occasion, Francis Dhomont has also been invited to give a concert few days before, on October 9 at Salle Claude-Champagne at 7:30 pm.

More news from the composer: his piece Corps et âme has been selected by the 7th Festival Internacional de Música Electroacústica, Ai-maako 2007 in Santiago (Chile) in October. The Porträtkonzert will be given during the Termine concert series in Weimar (Germany) on October 18. Finally Novars will be heard at the MANTIS: Novars Launch 2007 festival during the concert celebrating the grand opening of the Novars Studio at The University of Manchester (UK) on November 2.

The 7th International Electroacoustic Music Contest of São Paulo (CIMESP 2007) received works of 208 composers from 33 countries! The international jury formed by Christian Calon, Gilles Gobeil, Flô Menezes and João Pedro Oliveira has awarded, amongst others, Liaisons mécaniques by Nicolas Bernier (2nd Prize ex aequo) and honorable mentions were given to 7 works, including those of Elizabeth Anderson, Manuella Blackburn, António Ferreira, Raúl Minsburg, Steingrimur Rohloff, Diana Simpson, Hans Tutschku. Premières traces du Choucas by Francis Dhomont won the Public Prize.

Were also announced the selected works for the upcoming 7th International Biennial for Electroacoustic Music of São Paulo (VII BIMESP 2008) in the fall of 2008. They include: Last Thoughts Before Silence by Mathew Adkins, scènes, rendez-vous by Pete Stollery, Kaleidoscope: Arcade by Peter Batchelor, When I was Wood by Stephan Dunkelman.

Two virtuoso of “musique concrète” and acousmatic works — mentor and former student — will be at the “Binary Cities Event: Montréal, Canada – Avignon, France,” a NEXMAP concert. Francis Dhomont’s performance will include Here and There, Phonurgie, and Moirures (a videomusic realized in collaboration with Inés Wickmann). Louis Dufort will premiere the videomusic Flesh that explores the relationship between sonic and visual morphology. He will also diffuse 2 accousmatic works that examine the notion of movement; one of which, Gen_3, is an homage to Francis Dhomont and Pierre Schaeffer. This event will take place at the Recombinant Media Labs in San Francisco (USA) on December 1, 2007 [and December 2, 2007].

Música Viva Festival 2007 will take place from September 11 to 23, 2007 in Lisbon (Portugal). Amongst other events, the daily “Deep Listening” will present StrinGDberg by Robert Normandeau (September 18 to 23). On the 19 the “Loudspeakers Orchestra II” will also be an occasion to listen to: A nova música do rei by António Ferreira, and Here and There, Vol d’Arondes, Un autre Printemps, Premières traces du Choucas, Moirures (Inès Wickmann, vidéeo) by Francis Dhomont who will also give a master class.
