    R(h)umeur collective, a radio work initiated by artist Maki was designed with short pieces (1 min.) realised by composers from all around the world. The 1st part of the piece was broadcasted last March on Radia. The 2nd part, composed thanks to the contribution of 23 artists — of whom Francis Dhomont — will be broadcasted on June 1, 2007 on Radio Grenouille. Note that the programme will be archived.

    For his piece À propos de K Francis Dhomont was commissioned by the French State (Music Office) in 2007; the work premiered at Ina-GRM on November 11, 2006. His Forêt profonde (1994-96) was awarded the “Prix de la meilleure création contemporaine électroacoustique” (best contemporary electrocoustic work) of the Prix de Printemps 2007 organized by Sacem. Finally, Francis Dhomont along with Inés Wickmann received a grant to realized a videomusic trilogy (based on the colors red, yellow, and blue).

    Vanavond in Folio aandacht voor een ‘Grande Dame et un Grand Monsieur de la Musique Concrète’, de bijna 70 jarige Marcelle Deschênes en de pas 80 jaar geworden legende Francis Dhomont.

    Op het Canadese label empreintes DIGITALes is van beide nu een overzichts-CD verschenen en met recht, want zowel mevrouw Deschênes en meneer Dhomont zijn gelauwerde veteranen en hebben een respectabele staat van dienst binnen de elektro-akoestische muziek.

    Francis Dhomont heeft zelfs aan de wieg gestaan van dit begrip, toen hij in Parijs in de jaren ‘40 experimenteerde met ‘magnetisch geladen draden’ en zo de term ‘Musique Concrète’ ontlokte bij monde van de een van de belangrijkste grondleggers, Pierre Schaeffer. Iets jonger en wellicht iets minder legendarisch is Marcelle Deschênes. Zij zich vooral toe op audiovisueel werk en multimedia. Haar CD petits Big Bangs is een retrospectief van haar elektro-akoestische werk gemaakt tussen 1976 en 2002.

    On the occasion of the festival Le Bruit de la neige (9th edition) in Annecy (France), Francis Dhomont will present on May 25, 2007 his works Here and There, Vol d’Arondes, Je te salue, vieil océan!, Premières traces du Choucas, À propos de K, and Moirures, a videomusic realised with visual artist Inés Wickmann. Excerpts of thoses pieces are avalaible online on … et autres utopies. You can also listen to Francis Dhomont’s repertoire on his electroradio stream.

    The Synthèse festival that takes place in Bourges (France) from June 1 to 10, 2007 promises us a great edition. Amongst guest artists, we can find Jon Appleton, Francis Dhomont, Louis Dufort, Denis Dufour, Beatriz Ferreyra, Max Mathews, Barry Truax, and Hans Tutschku. Francis Dhomont will notably present his work Premières traces du Choucas on June 4th and a lecture entitled Hypothèses sur un parcours personnel, the day after, on June 5th.
