Kristoff K.Roll (J-Kristoff Camps, Carole Rieussec) will present their “audio-speaking naps” series À l’ombre des ondes twice on July 15, 2011 at Musée Fujak as part of the Festival Avignon Off 2011.

2011 is a year of transitions for your electroacoustic music shop. Since the launch of the current version of the site on January 1 we have improved the recommendations system in March, further secured the shopping cart with PayPal in April, re-encoded all the audio samples in mp3 and ogg in order to fully meet the HTML5 standard in mid-April and for the new season (winter or summer, depending on your hemisphere) electrocd.com is now mobile with the launch of m.electrocd.com.

We have just completed the version for mobile browsers found in smartphones. The display and navigation are customized for (small) touch interfaces. If you use an iPhone or Android phone or any other advanced digital player, know that you are still and always welcome to electrocd.com.

Martin Tétreault introduces his Quatuor de tourne-disques, a very recent project. Featuring Nancy Tobin, Alexander MacSween, David Lafrance and Magali Babin on turntables. Tétreault on composition and direction. Most of the tracks on this short record are compositions or conducted improvisations (three are free improvisations). The graphic scores for the compositions are included in the sleeve. This is highly abstract music made of turntable sounds (no vinyl quotes), closer to the visual arts (some figures are almost palpable) than music. An interesting concept, but the first listen didn’t convince me as to the results. I’ll have to give a few tries. The album comes with a stereo CD and a 4.0 surround sound DVD.

The Musikwissenschaftliches Institut of the Universität zu Köln (Cologne, Germany) presents a series of three concerts and one conference on the acousmtics of Francis Dhomont from June 29 to July 1, 2011. Also on the concert programmes are works by Annette Vande Gorne, and Hans Tutschku.
