Founded in 2006 by the ZKM’s Institute for Music and Acoustics (Karlsruhe, Germany) and the SWR’s Experimentalstudio (Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany), the Giga-Hertz-Award celebrates the career of a composer and four production prizes are given to composers for projects to be realized at the ZKM or the Experimentalstudio. The grand prize was attributed to Gottfried Michael Koenig while the four production prizes were awarded to Dániel Péter Biró, José Miguel Fernandez, Orestis Karamanlis, and Robert Normandeau (for his work Jeu de langues).

The Électro-chocs concert series presented by the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal continues its celebration of the 20 years of empreintes DIGITALes with a concert of Christian Bouchard’s music on November 25, 2010.

The Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festical (HCMF) is also celebrating the 20 years of empreintes DIGITALes with not one but two concerts on November 24, 2010. One focuses on “Cinema for the Ears” while the second is titled “Music for Dark Spaces”…

Dominique Bassal’s Ubiquité and Francis Dhomont’s Études pour Kafka are both nominated for the Opus Prize in the category “Disc of the Year — Musique actuelle, Electroacoustics.” The 14th Opus Prize Gala will take place on January 30, 2011 at Salle Claude-Champagne, Université de Montréal.

Les Acousmonautes presents the event Voyage en Acousmonef with two concerts on the AcousMobile sound system by Jean-Marc Duchenne on November 26, 2010 at the Fondation Vasarely in Aix-en-Provence (France).
